More Truth about the Coalition for Marriage ...

MORE Truth about the Coalition for Marriage (C4M)

The internet is such a great resource, leaving footprints everywhere!.  Searching through the internet I have found the following information:

1.

On DayofPurity.co.uk (a site which states that its supporters include the Family Education Trust and Revelation TV – note the C4M has a director who is also a director of the Family Education Trust) which seeks to establish Valentines day as “ a public proclamation for Christians to  profess that we are ’set apart’ for purpose and that ‘purity’ is not only a lifestyle but obedience to following Christ. Single guys and girls recognise that they will ‘wait’ until they are in a heterosexual marriage before engaging in any sexual activity.”

There is the following comment about C4M:

The Coalition for Marriage, established by the Christian Institute, with signatories from senior officials of Care, the Evangelical Alliance, Christian Concern, and other organisations, accuses the Government of rewriting the legal definition of marriage without widespread public support for the change.”

Clearly in some Christian circles (with very close links to the senior officers of C4M) there is a perception that C4M is Christian organisation.

2.
            Thinking Anglicans website states:

“The Coalition for Marriage, established by the Christian Institute, with signatories from senior officials of Care, the Evangelical Alliance, Christian Concern, and other organisations, accuses the Government of rewriting the legal definition of marriage without widespread public support for the change…”

Now is that identical wording?  I think it is!  Would that be another religious organisation seeming to suggestion that C4M is created by a number of other religious organisations?  Would it be reasonable to suspect that the identical wording may have come from an email or media release from either C4M or one of the religious organisations themselves e.g. the Christian Institute?
3.
Anglican Mainstream website state:
“The Coalition for Marriage, established by the Christian Institute, with signatories from senior officials of Care, the Evangelical Alliance, Christian Concern, and other organisations, accuses the Government of rewriting the legal definition of marriage without widespread public support for the change.”
Those words are becoming increasingly familiar.  Perhaps some indoctrination going on here?  Would the Christian Institute engage in indoctrination, surely not!
4.
St Davids church in Moreton in the Marsh on their website state:
A new campaign has just been launched by the Christian Institute: the Coalition for Marriage. Its aim is to prevent marriage being redefined by the Government. For further information check the Christian Institute website on http://www.christian.org.uk/.  If you wish to sign a petition to register your concern click on this link  www.c4m.org.uk
Now it may just be me, but there seems to be many people who are in religious circles who seem to believe that the C4M is the Christian Institute, one and the same.  Wonder where they got that idea from?  Perhaps from the Christian Institute themselves?  Why would the Christian Institute want to hide from the public face.  What are they ashamed of?
5.
Church News in Ireland on their website state:
Coalition for Marriage launched
Christian Institute - A grassroots campaign group against the redefinition of marriage in the United Kingdom has been launched. The Coalition for Marriage (C4M) is a group of organisations and individuals who support the current definition of marriage and opposes any plans to redefine it. The petition can be signed online here: www.c4m.org.uk  Leading public figures including politicians from the Conservative and Labour parties, lawyers, academics and religious leaders, have already signed affirming that marriage is between one man and one woman for life. Read more - http://www.christian.org.uk/news/coalition-for-marriage-launched/
Clearly they believe that this matter is also being led by the Christian Institute.  So its not just English religious people who believe it is the Christian Institute, it goes further than that.  Also, should people from the Republic of Ireland be signing a petition about marriage in England?  Surely thats a little disingenuous.
6.
The Church Times on the 24 February 2012 stated:
“The Coalition for Marriage, established by the Christian Institute, with signatories from senior officials of Care, the Evangelical Alliance, Christian Concern, and other organisations, accuses the Government of rewriting the legal definition of marriage without widespread public support for the change”
Clearly everyone in “following the party line” and using identical words!
7.
Network Yarmouth (Christian Community website) are another Christian organisation that appear to recognise that C4M is (at least predominantly) a Christian organisation:
“To this end, CARE, Christian Concern, The Christian Institute and the Evangelical Alliance, as well as a wide variety of otherorganisations, have formed The Coalitionfor Marriage - an important national grassroots initiative launched today.  You may read about it in the press and social media
8.
Christ Church Chilwell include this notice on their website:
“Next month the Government begins its consultation on redefining marriage. Because of this the Campaign for Marriage is being launched backed by the Christian Institute, CARE, Christian Concern, the Evangelical Alliance and the Family Education Trust. A nationwide petition will give people the opportunity to register their concern. Copies of the Coalition for Marriage petitions is at the back of church, please sign the form and give your support to the following statement. "I support the legal definition of marriage which is the voluntary union for life of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. I oppose any attempt to redefine it."”
Seems they also see the C4M being led by religious groups.  Makes me wonder why the C4M are keen to stress their non-religious affliation when the media ask them about it.  If they have nothing to hide, why the smoke and mirrors?
Also, these forms in a church do not sit comfortably in a democracy.  In an organisation with preaching and to tell people from the pulpit that they should fill in one of these forms could be construed as pressurising people or manipulating people.
9.
The Parish of Wargrave with Knowl Hill on their website state:
To this end, CARE, Christian Concern, The Christian Institute and the Evangelical Alliance, as well as a wide variety of other organisations, have formed The Coalition for Marriage - an important national grassroots initiative launched today. You may read about it in the press and social media. If you follow the link, you will find the on-line petition page where you can express your support for this. There are also Petition forms available in Church. “
Perhaps they are also pressurizing their congregation to sign up.  They also clearly understand this campaign as being religious in nature.
10.
That well known political party the Scottish Christian Party (!) have on their website the following:
“A new coalition has formed to fight the Westminster Government’s consultation on how to change the definition of marriage. The Coalition for Marriage is an umbrella group of individuals and organisations in the UK that support traditional marriage and oppose any plans to redefine it.  It is organising an online petition opposing the inclusion of homosexual partnerships in the defintion of marriage.”
Firstly, odd that marriage is a devolved power to the Scottish government and the Scottish Christian party feel it is appropriate to marshall support from WITHIN Scotland to fight Westminster proposals which would only impact in England.  (dirty tactics, underhand, dishonest? – may be words you could associate with the Scottish Christian Party approach to this matter, I would prefer not to comment ...)
Those are just the first ten comments I found on the internet on a basic search.
The consensus from all these comments (some of them using identical wording – wonder where it came from!) is that the Christian Institute is at the very heart of the C4M, which is obvious given who the directors are, where it is registered and who is speaking on behalf of it.  Yet the C4M seems keen to be dishonest and paint a veneer on no religious context to C4M.  Thats at best disingenuous, but more likely entirely misleading, dishonest and lying.

They keep saying equal marriage will destroy society.  No the outcome of equal marriage is that gay people will be able to marry and some homophobes will be made to feel uncomfortable.
